Swan Lake
So, Swan Lake opening symphony is used in many movies/advertisments -- especially bank/watches ads. it is usually the higher end consumer goods that select the swan lake.
I suppose it is assumed that middle-upper class people tend to show more interest in classical (or at least, are obliged to dress their kids once every 3 years to force upon them the "education" of watching swan lake (usually around christmas ... and the swan lake on ice is hardly seldom)... Although swan lake doesnt have much to do with Christmas, it is often performed in the freezing months, simply because ... well think nutcracker.. == ballet houses.. If a ballet house comes, and they are performing their "usual", they might as well throw in the swan lake, since EVERYBODY likes swan lake (the beautiful piourettes, the fluffy white tutus, the tiaras...).
Back to the movies and ads. So I can't name concrete examples (of course, the swan lake exists as a movie, apparently even one with Barbie), except Billy Elliot. Which! since you are so into dance, please do watch it... it is a "dance" movie. (A year later, another dance movie appeared, recently, there was another one called ???? rhythm (with simon rattle, berliner philharmoie) -- both I have yet to watch :' ( ) In B. Elliot, the swan lake appears at the last 5 minutes of the movie... beautiful end :)
Anyway, today I brought in my SL cd, so if i hv time to rip the opening symphony, I will send it to you :)
