NYC crazy days.

I went only 2 days after the snowstorm. It was freezing cold (more like the wind chill), but the visit was touristically successful. Got tics for NYphil. (great conduting), watched jazz band, went for a standup comedy, MET opera. Visited museums without end... but also shopped till I dropped, now i am broke :)

1. Nyphil. Lorin Maazel was conducting... playing was lovely (duh!), soloist was Gil Shaham. One very marked difference, I think european performers might need less theater :) Shaham played beautifully, like a dream. It was really funny that he was hoppingaround the stage though :) , moving steps forward and backwards. Oh he played Bruch.vio con. 1. The orch played Var. on a Theme of Haydn (1873) by Brahms, Var. for orch (1955) elliott carter (the composer came on stage. ... ) dont remember this though..i should blog more recent stuff.., plus some hungarian zoltan kodaly dances of galanta (very very char. hungarian :))
Ok rest in cut paste form (MET, hv to get the cD, am so damn broke though!!)
