Melbourne International Comedy Festival 2008

PRINCESS CABARET

Once upon a time, seven young women with backgrounds in comedy, musicals and impro came to know and love those meek and male-dependent icons - the Disney Princesses.
Now, through darkly satirical, fast-paced sketches and polished song and dance numbers they explore old stereotypes and their nostalgia for childhood heroines.
Who knows, maybe happy endings don't always require a prince!http://www.princesscabaret.com.au

Ratings by Sparrow & Me : EXCELLENT!!
After getting LOST TWICE, and nearly ending up at a smokey, beery, local rock concert... we finally found Imperial "hotel" where this was said to be held. That is, if one's definition of a hotel is a BAR with some kinky rooms upstars! However, despite our misadventures which seriously places the ticker collector's job on the line (they checked out our ticks and still let us into the WRONG VENUE!!) and the tiny tiny venue... we had a BLAST! The 'twisty' ending with Jas and Cindy crooning to "A WHOLE NEW GIRL..." just about wraps it all up - it was as though the entire performance was specially catered to us . Our fav was pretty Cindy with the beautiful voice, who also had the perfect intonation for "WHY DUN U JUST DIE!"... followed by the TREE who had no legs, mouth or feet. Snowwhite was perfectly freako and I think Tinkerbell had perfect Tink-hair.

5***** to this. And to anyone who's in Melb right now, go catch it - totally worth the $15 (student price).
